The Homeless Organizing Academy is EXPANDING!!

Announcing PTH Homeless Organizing Academy Expansion!

The Homeless Organizing Academy is a series of FREE weekly trainings, provided at Picture the Homeless,  to all homeless and formerly-homeless people, designed for them to get the skills and experience they'll need to fight for justice—and pursue employment as community organizers!

As of 2012 the Homeless Organizing Academy has grown to fit the needs and wants of homeless New Yorkers. Recently the Homeless Organizing Academy has expanded its programming from a weekly Tuesday session to over four (4) workshop trainings happening every week! The Homeless Organizing Academy now has four (4) active tracks to build well rounded leaders and community members in communication and job readiness, political education and organizing, computers and technology, and wellness. Some of classes include, resume and cover letter writing, history of homeless organizing, basic computers and healing activities (open mics and healing circles).

In addition to great one-time workshops, the Homeless Organizing Academy also provides special courses taught by guest instructors. Picture the Homeless kicked off Spring 2012 with a NEW and EXCITING twelve (12) week Guerrilla Media Production course that will teach homeless organizers the technique and skills necessary to produce THEIR OWN MEDIA that reflects the reality of homelessness, poverty, and systemic oppression.  All Homeless Organizing Academy classes are taught by Picture the Homeless staff, PTH members, and guest instructors with expertise and experience in each topic.
