BRANDON [August 15]: We spent time in a Gypsy village two and a half hours outside of Budapest. I actually wish we could have spent more time with the people here. We were introduced to a school that's working to educate Gypsy teens. It seems like it's understaffed and underfunded, like many programs in the U.S. that do good work in marginalized communities.

LYNN [August 14]: Picture the Homeless came to Budapest primarily to offer as much support as possible to homeless folks and their allies, as they work to strengthen skills in grassroots organizing.

ROB[August 12-13]: On Wednesday we visited a group called For the Protection of Homeless People's Rights, a legal advocacy group in Budapest. We sat down with them for two hours, discussing the challenges faced by homeless people in both the United States and Hungary.</p><p>In the afternoon, we left on a trip to Szeged, a beautiful city in the southeast.

* LYNN; [August 9]:We've been in Budapest for a week, and are in the midst of three days of workshops. There are 15 homeless folks, and 15 non-homeless (social workers/activists/students).

* ROB [August 6]:Thursday was the most interesting day yet. In the morning, Brandon and I visited a drop-in center/temporary shelter on the outskirts of Budapest. We also traveled in the crisis car, an outreach vehicle which travels around Budapest looking for street homeless folks.

Picture the Homeless members have always viewed our work in New York City as connected to struggles for justice all over the world -- all movement organizations need to learn from those in other places, and move forward together in solidarity. PTH'ers have travelled to Brazil and Palestine to connect our work in the U.S.
