Looking for the real experts on homelessness? You’ve come to the right place.

If you’re covering homelessness without including the voices of homeless people, you’re not telling the whole story.

Nobody understands homelessness like people currently experiencing it. Yet too many news stories still rely on ivory tower academics or college-educated professional advocates to provide the “homeless perspective.” Because we believe that the passion and analysis of our members is the best way to challenge bad government policies, getting their perspectives and voices out into the media is a major organizational priority. Our folks have been quoted in hundreds of groundbreaking news stories, and we’re always eager to respond to new developments.

We’re Here For You

To interview us for your story, please contact Sam Miller (646-314-6423 or [email protected]) with information about the story you’re working on, the media outlet you’re writing it for, and your deadline. Once we know what you need for your story, we can connect you with the best spokesperson!

How We Work

Staffers at Picture the Homeless are happy to speak to a journalist to provide background information for a story, but we’re not able to provide on-the-record quotes. For that, we’ll connect you with one of our members – folks who are currently or formerly homeless. We appreciate your understanding with that.
