Volunteer
As a small organization with big goals, we always need a lot of help.
The most urgently-needed support is for the general public to amplify the voices of homeless people. Homeless New Yorkers are under attack by the NYPD, and the mayor has the power to stop it. Call the Mayor at 212-788-3000, or tweet @BilldeBlasio, and tell him homeless people need house keys – not handcuffs! Creating housing for homeless people is more cost-effective than mass arrests and overcrowded shelters. And click here to sign up for our mailing list, so we can keep you in the loop about upcoming protests, parties, and more! https://www.picturethehomeless.org/
If you like what we do, and want to volunteer your time, we want to hear from you! Right now, we need help in the following areas…
- Answering phones
- Outreach – joining staff and members at soup kitchens, shelters, public parks, and other places where homeless people congregate, to educate them about our work and to encourage them to get involved
- Membership communications – calling and emailing our members to alert them about upcoming events, update contact information, and other organizing details
- Fundraising and development – help with setting up house parties, foundation research, and donor outreach
Contact Troy (646-314-6423 or [email protected]) if you’re interested in learning more about our volunteer needs.
