Jewel Jones

Jewel Jones currently resides in East Harlem, and was born and raised in NYC. A graduate of SUNY Stony Brook with a BA degree, she received her MS. Ed at Brooklyn College/CUNY. She is an advocate, activist, and leader, and has been actively involved in her community for many, many years. Jewel is a long-term member of Community Board 11, and proudly served as its secretary, until recently stepping down from the board to pursue other interests. She was also a long-term member of the Community Advisory Board at NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan, as well as its former chairperson. She is actively involved in We Act, the NAACP, the Arturo Schomburg Democratic Club, and was elected to the Manhattan County Committee for the 68th Assembly District, Part B. While Jewel currently works as an associate investigator in the lobbying division at the City Clerk’s office, her passion is EEO and she has worked for many, many years as an investigator/trainer at various City agencies. Jewel was very happy to learn that she was appointed as a new member of the Board at Picture the Homeless, and looks forward to working towards advancing its cause of organizing for dignity and respect for our homeless brothers and sisters.
